Longleat Festival of Light is a striking illuminations festival set in the cold of winter.
This particular group of photos are from when me and my wife went in 2014 for our new years celebrations. There is only one way to describe the Festival of Light and that is Incredible! It was dark and pretty cold but people weren’t complaining. People weren’t even bothered, they where all in awe of the hand-crafted lanterns of varying sizes and shapes. It was a tranquil evening walking around the park finished off with a massive fireworks display to bring in the new year.
What is Longleat Festival of Light?
Longleat’s Festival of Light is Europe’s largest ever display of Chinese lanterns. At this particular year’s festival there were over 7,000 individual lanterns. There was also a 70 meter long dragon, 20 meter tall Chinese temple, Chinese masks, flowers, pandas, Giraffes, lions and more.
Here are the photos
After entering through the amazing gateway we where greated with a mushroom garden intertwined with the environment.
After the mushroom garden we came to this spectacular Chinese temple followed by a garden of pandas.
These traditional Chinese lanterns where to be expected at an event like this. The area they covered was enormous. These pictures don’t show the scale and amount of lanterns used to fill the sky and illuminate the walkway.
Would I go again?
The simple answer is yes! I intend on going to another Festival of Light.
The Longleat Festival of Light is a spectacular sight and well worth discovering for yourself. You can visit the Longleat Website and also view their seasonal events to check out what they have going on.
